Mira Murati’s startup begins talks for $50 billion funding round

The AI startup Thinking Machines Lab, founded by Mira Murati, has begun preliminary talks for a new funding round. According to Bloomberg News, the startup aims for a valuation of around $50 billion in this round.

Some sources suggest that the valuation could reach $55 billion or even $60 billion. For comparison, the startup was valued at $12 billion after raising nearly $2 billion in funding as recently as July.

The article also notes that the terms of the deal are not yet finalized and may change.

This news comes after last month’s report by the Wall Street Journal that Thinking Machines co-founder Andrew Tulloch would leave the startup to join Meta Platforms. In October, the startup launched its first product, Tinker, which helps with the fine-tuning of language models.
