Read.cv, a social platform for professionals, has been acquired by Perplexity
Read.cv, a LinkedIn competitor among professionals, has been acquired by Perplexity, an artificial intelligence-powered search engine.
Under the deal, the Read.cv platform will begin to shut down on January 19. Users will be able to export their profiles, posts, and messages by May 16.
“We have long admired Perplexity and believe that making knowledge more open and accessible to the world is what makes great things happen,” the official Read.cv blog post reads. “In that spirit, we are excited to join Perplexity’s design and engineering teams as they continue our mission of exploration and discovery.”
Read.cv founder Andy Chang also shared the news on his personal account:
“I am delighted to share that the @read_cv team has joined the @perplexity_ai mission. This decision is both an exciting and fragile moment for us, as this new chapter marks the end of our time with Read.cv.”
Perplexity’s future plans
Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas praised the Read.cv team for joining their ranks:
“The Read.cv team has great skills in consumer and social experiences. We look forward to working with them on many new and exciting directions!”
Read.cv’s legacy
Founded in 2021 by Andy Chang, Read.cv offered users a wide range of opportunities to share their resumes and connect with industry experts. For companies, it offered features such as creating team profiles, posting vacancies and searching for candidates.
With this acquisition, Perplexity is preparing to take new steps towards developing both social experiences and professional connections.
