Airbnb bought an artificial intelligence startup from Siri developers for $200 million

Airbnb has acquired artificial intelligence startup GamePlanner. The parties did not disclose the amount of the purchase, but according to CNBC sources, it was about $200 million.
GamePlanner was founded by Adam Cheyer and Siamak Hodjat, one of the developers of the Siri voice assistant. Also, part of the Siri team and Chayer worked on the startup Viv Labs, which he co-founded with two other Apple voice assistant developers Doug Kittlaus and Chris Bigham. The startup provides artificial intelligence technology that enables the creation and use of voice assistants.
Airbnb says the GamePlanner team consists of 12 people and will focus on accelerating the company's individual AI projects, as well as integrating AI tools into the platform.
In 2023, Airbnb founder and CEO Brian Chesky has repeatedly stated that he wants to use generative artificial intelligence to turn the company's platform into a "travel concierge" that will learn user preferences and recommend where to go, where to rent a house, and what attractions.
