Anthropic, the creator of the Claude artificial intelligence chatbot, is exploring the possibility of an initial public offering (IPO) in 2026. According to sources familiar with the matter, the company has already begun consultations with Wilson Sonsini, one of the well-known US law firms.
Wilson Sonsini has been providing legal support to Anthropic since 2022 and has previously participated in the IPO processes of giants such as Google, LinkedIn and Lyft.
One of the sources said that Anthropic has also held preliminary talks with investment banks and has started internal changes required for an IPO. However, the company has not yet formed an attitude regarding the selection of an underwriter.
Some insiders are skeptical that an IPO in 2026 will take place. Anthropic, however, said in a statement that it has not yet been determined when the IPO will take place and whether it will take place at all.
Recall that in October 2025, Reuters reported that OpenAI planned to go public in 2027, potentially valuing it at up to $1 trillion. However, at the time, an OpenAI official said, "An IPO is not currently on the agenda."
