Apple has removed Telegram and WhatsApp from the App Store in China

Apple has removed the WhatsApp messenger and Threads social network from the Chinese App Store at the request of China's cyberspace regulator. The reason for this step was the protection of national security. According to information from Apple, the corporation must follow the laws of the countries in which it operates, even if its views on some issues differ from local laws. The rest of Meta's products, including Facebook, Instagram and Messenger (owned by Meta), are still available in the Chinese app store. Meta or its Chinese regulators declined to comment. The report did not elaborate on how WhatsApp and Threads could threaten China's security.
