Digital infrastructure provider Applied Digital has taken a major step forward in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), signing a $5 billion, 15-year lease agreement with a major US-based cloud services provider.
The agreement includes leasing 200 megawatts (MW) of IT capacity at the Polaris Forge 2 data center under construction in North Dakota.
The new center is designed specifically for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing. This shows how the demand for data center infrastructure is growing rapidly with the development of artificial intelligence.
Applied Digital’s shares rose after the news, reflecting investors’ confidence in the company’s position in the AI infrastructure market.
The first phase of the Polaris Forge 2 center is scheduled to be commissioned in 2026, and be fully operational in 2027. This project will make Applied Digital one of the leading companies in the field of artificial intelligence infrastructure in the United States.
