Users across multiple regions are reporting significant issues with the ChatGPT AI chatbot service. According to DownDetector, serious disruptions have been observed on both the web and mobile app versions of the chatbot, as well as problems with user login and APIs.
Currently, the highest number of reports come from India with approximately 800 cases, the US with around 1,100, and the UK with over 1,450 users affected. About 90% of the issues are reported on the web platform, while less than 10% are related to the app.
OpenAI posted a message on its status page stating that some users are experiencing elevated error rates and latency across their services. The problems have persisted for over three hours and have impacted ChatGPT, APIs, and the new AI video creation chatbot, Sora.
OpenAI also noted that error rates are particularly high for the Sora chatbot, causing degraded performance.
While some users encounter “message stream error” notifications, others report that the chatbot is functioning normally. Meanwhile, social media platforms have seen a variety of jokes and memes related to the outage.
