OpenAI has introduced a new feature in ChatGPT. Users can now access popular apps such as Booking.com, Spotify, Coursera, Figma, Canva, and more without leaving the platform. The announcement was made at the company’s annual DevDay 2025 event.
Sam Altman stated that this move aims to integrate AI more seamlessly into daily life:
“We want ChatGPT to help people be more productive, creative, and open to learning. The new system provides an interactive and personalized experience.”
With this feature, users can simply mention the app during a conversation to use it. For example, commands like “Coursera, teach me about the automotive industry” or “Figma, turn this sketch into a workable diagram” will activate the respective app. ChatGPT can also suggest relevant apps based on the user’s intent — for instance, creating a music playlist in Spotify when asked, “Prepare a playlist for the weekend.”
The system is built on Model Context Protocol (MCP) technology, allowing apps to offer interactive interfaces and even videos directly within ChatGPT. Apps like DoorDash, Uber, and Instacart are expected to be added in the future.
OpenAI emphasizes that privacy remains a top priority, and developers will only collect necessary data. The company also plans to expand monetization options for apps within ChatGPT.
