Football star Cristiano Ronaldo has announced that he has invested in AI startup Perplexity AI, a company that owns products such as the search engine Comet. The company is valued at $20 billion.
Ronaldo himself shared the news, emphasizing the importance of curiosity to achieve success: “Curiousness is the condition for greatness. Every day you win by asking new questions. That’s why I’m proud to announce that I’m investing in Perplexity,” the footballer said.
As part of the collaboration, a special landing page called “Perplexity x CR7” was created, where Ronaldo’s career story is presented. He called this collaboration “the beginning of the road” and said that they aim to inspire everyone to ask more ambitious questions.
Founded in 2022, Perplexity reached a value of $20 billion after a $200 million investment round in September. Cristiano Ronaldo was initially a user of the platform, and later joined as an investor. In October, he thanked Perplexity for helping him prepare his acceptance speech at the Prestige Globe Awards.
Ronaldo, who has over a billion social media followers, said the investment and partnership could significantly boost Perplexity's user base. "Perplexity fuels the world's curiosity," he said in a statement.
