Cybercriminals are disguising malicious software as open-source projects to deceive users. These programs usually take the form of Telegram bots and are masked as tools for managing cryptocurrency wallets, Instagram accounts, or cheats for the game Valorant.
Kaspersky GReAT security researchers have reported that the main goal of these malicious programs is to steal users' data and cryptocurrencies. One of the most dangerous types of these programs is "clippers," which can automatically replace wallet addresses with those of cybercriminals. Through this method, approximately $485,000 worth of funds have already been stolen.
Experts recommend that users only download software from official websites and implement modern security measures to protect their devices from malicious programs.
