Discord is preparing for an IPO

Discord has secretly filed documents for an initial public offering (IPO). It is reported that discussions about the process are still ongoing and the company may ultimately refuse to go public.

Discord representatives declined to comment on a possible IPO, saying that they are focused only on user experience and building a sustainable business. Investment banks Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan, which were named in the process, also did not comment on the issue.

Bloomberg reported in March that Discord was discussing an IPO with Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan. The New York Times and Financial Times also reported on this. As the Financial Times noted, Discord considered going public as early as 2021, but abandoned this plan due to instability in the markets. In 2026, the situation may have changed against the backdrop of lower interest rates and more favorable policies for the technology sector in the United States.

Discord was founded in 2015 as a platform for gamers, but over time it has moved beyond the gaming audience. According to the company, the number of monthly active users exceeded 200 million in 2025.

It should be noted that Discord was blocked in Russia by Roskomnadzor in October 2024 for “violation of legislation and posting of illegal content.”
