Elon Musk and Trump reach a $10 million settlement

Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter) has agreed to pay Donald Trump $10 million to settle a lawsuit over his 2021 ban.

The lawsuit challenged Twitter’s decision to suspend Trump’s account following the events of January 6, when his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol. Initially, Trump’s team considered dropping the lawsuit due to his close relationship with Musk. However, despite this, Trump decided to finalize the settlement.

Musk reinstated Trump’s Twitter account in 2022 and has contributed over $250 million to Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. This week, Musk and Trump held a joint press conference at the White House.

Additionally, in January, Meta agreed to pay $25 million to settle a similar lawsuit.
