AZERTAC reports that President Ilham Aliyev has signed a Decree on this matter.
The Decree states that the Republic of Azerbaijan, based on principles of humanitarianism, provides humanitarian aid to many countries around the world on bilateral and multilateral grounds. Due to the situation in Ukraine in recent years, the Azerbaijani government has sent humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine several times. Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Ukraine develop on the basis of friendship and partnership, supported by relevant bilateral documents, including the “Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Ukraine” dated March 16, 2000, the “Declaration on Friendship and Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Ukraine” dated May 22, 2008, and the “Joint Declaration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the President of Ukraine” dated January 14, 2022.
According to the Decree, in order to provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine, funds in the amount of 2.0 (two) million US dollars in the manat equivalent will be allocated from the Presidential Reserve Fund of the 2025 state budget of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Ministry of Energy for the purchase and shipment of electrical equipment produced in Azerbaijan.
The Ministry of Finance will ensure financing in the amount specified in part 1 of this Decree. The Cabinet of Ministers shall resolve the issues arising from this Decree.
