In the first quarter of this year, 60 web resources operating in the “.az” domain zone were hacked.
According to research, 42% of cyber intrusions were due to improper secure coding, and 58% were due to improper server configuration.
In addition, it was determined that 18 of the attacks were related to server-level intrusions, and 13 to code-level intrusions. In the remaining 29 cases, it was not possible to determine the source and method of the attack. At the same time, it was found that 6 web resources that were subjected to hacker attacks became targets again because previous vulnerabilities were not eliminated. In these cases, the responsible persons did not take effective measures to eliminate existing shortcomings.
When looking at the statistics of web resources where cyber-interference cases were detected by country, it was determined that 82% of them were hosted in the USA, 5% in Germany, 5% in Azerbaijan, 4% in Russia, and 4% in the UK.
It was noted that 58% of cyber-attacks are related to improper server configuration and failure to ensure secure segmentation between resources. In this regard, companies using “shared hosting” services are recommended to be especially careful.
