India Invests 230 Million Dollars in AI Startup

Billionaire Bhavish Aggarwal, backed by SoftBank, has invested 230 million dollars in the AI startup Krutrim, which operates in the field of artificial intelligence in India. Aggarwal, who primarily used his personal finances for this investment, plans to invest 1.15 billion dollars in Krutrim within the next year.

Along with this investment news, Krutrim has made its AI models, developed specifically for the Hindi language, available for public use. Additionally, India plans to build the largest supercomputer in collaboration with Nvidia. The company is working on language models (LLM) that operate in Hindi, with the Krutrim-2 model standing out by delivering superior results in Hindi compared to its competitors.

Aggarwal stated, "We are not yet at global standards, but we have made significant progress in one year," and highlighted that they are releasing their models as open-source to aid India's development in the AI field.

This initiative is part of India's goal to strengthen its position in artificial intelligence against countries like the USA and China. Krutrim has also created a special system called BharatBench to evaluate AI models in Hindi, filling the gap left by evaluation systems that previously focused only on English and Chinese languages.

The supercomputer is planned to be operational in March, with plans for expansion by the end of the year.
