Intel CTO Sachin Katti joins OpenAI team

Sachin Katti, one of Intel's key figures in the field of artificial intelligence and appointed as CTO (chief technology officer) in April this year, resigned after just 6 months to join the OpenAI team.

Intel officially confirmed the information. It was stated that the company's CEO Lip-Bu Tan will temporarily take over Katti's duties.

Katti had worked at Intel since 2021 and played a key role in shaping the company's artificial intelligence strategy in the face of competitors such as Nvidia and AMD. He was considered one of the key figures who set the direction of the company in AI and chip technologies during Intel's most difficult times.

Katti's departure is part of a leadership change that has been ongoing at Intel in recent months. Several senior executives have left the company recently:

  • Justin Hotard (Head of Data Center and AI) resigned in the spring to become CEO of Nokia,
  • Safroadu Yeboah-Amankwah (CSO) left his position in the summer,
  • Michelle Johnston Holthaus (Head of Chips and former CEO) announced in September that she was leaving Intel, where she had worked for more than 30 years.

The American technology giant Intel is currently trying to strengthen its position in the market with strategies focused on artificial intelligence and data centers, but these changes in the leadership team could complicate the company's restructuring process.
