Andrey Karpathy, a well-known expert who worked at OpenAI and Tesla, has launched a new social networking platform. Called “KarpathyTalk,” the platform is designed primarily for programmers and is presented as an alternative to existing social networks.
Karpathy said that platforms such as X and Threads are built on collecting user data, monetizing emotions, and capturing attention. According to him, the goal of the new project is to create “an environment where the desire to create and share is at the forefront.”
Registration on the new social network is possible only through a GitHub account. One of the main distinguishing features of the platform is its strict rules against content created by artificial intelligence. Thus, users are prohibited from sharing posts written by AI, and such content must be shared only with a special “AI” tag. Users who violate the rule can be reported and blocked.
According to information as of April 8, 2026, Russian-language posts began to dominate the “popular” section of the platform. Some users advertise their projects and Telegram channels, while others post more entertaining and humorous posts.
The future success of KarpathyTalk will depend on user behavior and the effectiveness of the restrictions imposed by the platform.
