AvtoVAZ has signed a contract with one of the Ethiopian companies for the assembly and production of Lada vehicles in the African country, according to the Russian ambassador to Ethiopia, Chama Uqala Uriat, as reported by TASS. While two more production facilities have shown interest in operating from Russia, they have only initiated preliminary discussions.
Chama Uqala Uriat also mentioned in his interview with TASS that tourists from Russia can now obtain visas upon arrival at the airport instead of applying at the embassy. Furthermore, in the future, both countries are planning to implement a visa-free regime for them and simplify payments for Russians under sanctions by integrating the Mir payment system in Ethiopia.
