Meta is finishing its long-awaited smart glasses project. According to CNBC, the company will present its new smart glasses, codenamed “Hypernova”, at the annual Connect event in September. The main feature of these glasses is a built-in display. The event will also showcase a third-generation model that works only with voice commands.
Connect 2025 will take place on September 17-18. During the event, Meta will present its new hardware strategies for augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR).
The Hypernova model allows users to see notifications and digital content directly on the lenses, providing a more interactive experience. The voice-controlled model is lighter and designed for everyday use.
Meta, which previously entered the smart glasses market through a partnership with Ray-Ban, aims to compete with Apple Vision Pro and other rivals with these new products.
This presentation at Connect 2025 will also be a concrete example of Meta’s continued investments in its metaverse vision.
