OpenAI and Oracle sign $300 billion deal

OpenAI has signed a massive five-year, $300 billion agreement with Oracle to support artificial intelligence (AI) projects. This is considered one of the largest deals ever in the field of cloud computing, according to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

Within the framework of this partnership, Oracle’s primary source of new revenue is expected to come from this agreement. The data processing center to be built under the deal will require 4.5 gigawatts of energy, which is roughly equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 4 million households.

Against this backdrop, Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison’s wealth has surged, allowing him to surpass Elon Musk and become the world’s richest person. This increase is tied to the company’s successful report for the first quarter of fiscal year 2026. According to the report, Oracle’s revenue rose by 12% to reach $14.9 billion. At the same time, future obligations (RPO) grew by 359%, climbing to $455 billion.

This development once again highlights how rapidly financial flows are moving into the AI sector and how demand for cloud computing continues to soar.
