OpenAI has added an important figure to its team as part of its strategy to expand collaboration with governments. George Osborne, the former Chancellor of the Exchequer of the United Kingdom, has been appointed to lead the company’s new initiative, “OpenAI for Countries.”
Operating from London, Osborne’s primary responsibility will be to establish direct relationships with governments worldwide. He will support countries in developing their AI infrastructure, setting up data centers, and adapting the technology to meet local economic needs.
This appointment is considered a key part of OpenAI’s international strategy. Under the program, announced earlier this year, the company aims to implement joint projects with various countries and elevate the deployment of AI to the governmental level. Osborne’s political experience is expected to help OpenAI navigate bureaucratic obstacles and secure large-scale agreements with governments.
