OpenAI has launched ChatGPT with parental controls for teenagers

A special, safer version of ChatGPT designed for users under 18 has been launched. This update aims to enhance the safety of young users. Now, if the system cannot verify a user’s age, it automatically directs them to the secure version intended for minors.

Additionally, new parental control features have been introduced. Parents can link their accounts to their children’s accounts, limit usage time, and disable certain functions. If a child experiences a stressful situation, parents receive an alert notification.

The new version also blocks discussions involving sexual content and self-harm. In serious cases, information may be sent to parents or law enforcement. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated that the company prioritizes the safety of minors over privacy. These updates are expected to be fully activated by the end of September.
