OpenAI Launches “ChatGPT Go” Subscription Plan in India

The new plan, called ChatGPT Go, is priced at ₹399 per month (around $4.60). This makes it significantly cheaper than the previous Plus Plan, which costs ₹1,999 per month (around $23).

Users can now also make payments via UPI (Unified Payment Interface).

Nick Turley, Head of ChatGPT at OpenAI, stated that compared to the free version, the ChatGPT Go plan:

  • Increases the message limit 10x,
  • Expands image generation capability 10x,
  • Raises the file upload limit 10x,
  • Doubles memory duration.

Turley added that this plan was designed in response to demand from users in India and will be introduced in other countries in the future.

India is OpenAI’s second-largest market. ChatGPT now has over 700 million weekly users. In the last 90 days, there have been 29 million downloads from India, but revenue amounted to only $3.6 million.

With the new Go plan, OpenAI aims to attract more paying subscribers through affordable pricing and local payment options. This move is expected to benefit both individual users and those in education and the workplace who want to take advantage of ChatGPT.
