Spirit AI announced that it has raised 1 billion yuan (about $145 million) in a new funding round. The round was led by ShunWei Capital and YF Capital.
The investment follows previous rounds the company has raised in recent weeks, bringing its total to more than 10 billion yuan (over $1.4 billion). Other investors include Fortune Capital, Galaxy Yuanhui Investment, Xin Ding Capital and Glacier Capital.
Founded in 2024, the startup develops artificial intelligence models for robots. The company is working specifically on “vision-language-action” technologies and released the Spirit v1.5 system as open source in January of this year.
While the latest investment shows the growing interest in humanoid robot technologies in China, challenges remain in commercializing the field.
