The Russian Ministry of Digital Development is launching the introduction of “children’s SIM cards.” According to Minister Maksut Shadayev, parents will now be able to track their children’s location through a mobile operator — no formal application or court order will be required.
According to the new rules, children’s SIM cards will be registered only with parental consent. Parents will be able to appoint a trusted person through the Gosuslugi platform and access their child’s geolocation data at any time.
Note that this decision was made against the backdrop of increased control over the use of SIM cards in Russia.
