Russian Supreme Court upholds Google's $1 quintillion fine

The Supreme Court of Russia has upheld financial claims against Google in the amount of more than 1 quintillion US dollars. The decision did not satisfy the cassation appeal of Google International LLC. RIA Novosti reported.

It was reported that the amount of the fine was formed due to the non-execution of court decisions on unblocking the accounts of 13 television channels and three media organizations on the YouTube platform. Since the company did not comply with the decisions, the fine increased according to the principle of geometric growth.

The Moscow arbitration courts recognized these claims as current liabilities. This status implies that these claims will be paid in priority compared to other creditors in a possible bankruptcy procedure. The administrator participating in the bankruptcy process said that the amount put forward will be used as the basis for distributing the funds that will actually be withdrawn among creditors.
