SIMA, created by “AzInTelecom” LLC, under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, continues to contribute to solving environmental problems and sustainable development goals as a new generation digital signature. This digital solution, which aims to protect the environment by reducing paper production, attaches special importance to the promotion of green technologies. In this direction, SIMA declares its active participation in the fight against global climate change by supporting the COP29 event held in Baku. SIMA’s goal is to pave the way for a greener and more sustainable future through the widespread application of digitalization.
This technology, operating under the “SIMA Signature” brand and in the form of a mobile application, does not only focus on legal reliability and security. It also makes important contributions to the application of green technologies and the protection of the ecosystem. With SIMA, which currently has more than 60 partners, institutions have digitized many physical services. As a result of the transactions carried out with SIMA to date, millions of signings, approvals or access to electronic systems have been made without any physical participation and without the use of paper documents. This volume of paperless transactions means saving hundreds of thousands of trees from being cut down.
As a result, the use of SIMA new generation digital signature prevents the cutting down of trees, indirectly reducing the greenery in nature. Reducing paper production also creates an opportunity to save water and energy resources used during the production process.
It should be noted that paper production is a process that requires cutting down a large amount of trees. According to calculations, approximately 17 trees are cut down to produce one ton of paper. Considering that on average 400 million tons of paper are produced in the world every year, this means cutting down hundreds of thousands of trees every year. To give another example, today, approximately 50 sheets of paper are spent on preparing a loan agreement in bank branches. Thanks to digital documentation, it is possible to reduce this figure by up to 80%.
Today, more than 1,000 electronic services are already accessible with SIMA. According to the monitoring conducted, with SIMA alone, the loan granting period in banks is reduced by 3 times, and the customer loss rate is reduced by 2 times. “SIMA Signature” also eliminates the dependence of residents living in the regions on visiting service centers, which means saving energy (fuel), indirectly reducing harmful gases emitted into the environment.
As a result, the expansion of digital documentation leads to a reduction in carbon footprint, optimization of water and energy consumption. Such changes serve not only to protect the environment, but also to a future developing on the basis of sustainable and green technologies.
