Foxconn and SoftBank are starting a new operation in Ohio at a former electric vehicle factory. They will produce data center equipment needed for artificial intelligence (AI).
This initiative is part of the “Stargate” project, a joint effort by SoftBank, OpenAI, and Oracle. According to Trump, the project could see up to $500 billion in investment.
Foxconn CEO Young Liu said that SoftBank has purchased the Ohio factory, while Foxconn will continue operations through a joint venture with SoftBank. Liu added that Ohio is very suitable for the project because it provides the necessary power and large space.
This new production facility will support the development of artificial intelligence technology in the United States.
