Startup founded by Tajik youth receives $3 million investment

Modern financial institutions use various AI models to manage risks. A startup called zypl.ai, based in the UAE, is trying to make the risk assessment process more accurate and efficient by using synthetic data.

Founded at Stanford University and operating in Central Asia since 2022, zypl.ai already collaborates with more than 50 companies, including global financial institutions such as the National Bank of Qatar and FINCA International. The company’s success has turned Tajikistan into a new global hub for AI and synthetic data.

Zypl.ai’s innovative approach

The company’s AI technology is built on zGAN – an anomaly-based generative adversarial network (GAN). This technology was created based on zypl.ai’s scientific research and is integrated into Lucid, a code-free, intuitive AI platform. Banks, fintech companies and insurance companies can use the Lucid platform to build their own AI models for things like credit scoring and fraud detection.

$3 million investment and global expansion

zypl.ai has received a $3 million pre-Series A investment from Prosus Ventures, the investment fund of one of the world’s largest technology companies. Other investors include Battery Road Digital Holdings and Astana Hub Ventures.

The investment will help zypl.ai expand its global operations and develop new multifunctional AI solutions for banks. The company plans to expand beyond risk management solutions for the banking sector, entering the secured lending and insurance sectors.

The Future of AI in Finance

Robin Voogd, Investment Manager for the Middle East at Prosus Ventures, said:
“At Prosus Ventures, we invest in disruptive technologies that push the boundaries of AI. zypl.ai’s method of generating intelligent anomalous patterns from synthetic data is dramatically improving the accuracy of forecasting in financial services. The company’s AI technology is advancing credit scoring and risk modeling, opening up new opportunities across a wide range of sectors, from banks to e-commerce platforms that operate on the ‘Buy Now, Pay Later’ system. We are delighted to support zypl.ai’s global development.”

Azizjon Azimi, founder and CEO of zypl.ai, said:
"The instability in the global economy in recent years has proven that artificial intelligence models based solely on historical data are not reliable. It is important to create synthetic data - especially anomalous data - to adapt to constantly changing economic conditions. We believe that zGAN technology opens a new era in the field of artificial intelligence and will help to manage the financial sector more effectively."

zypl.ai is currently located in the AI Campus of the Dubai International Financial Center and plans to be one of the first residents of the national artificial intelligence technopark "Area AI", which will be launched in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, in 2026.
