Telegram blocked more than 44 million groups and communities related to prohibited topics in 2025. This was reported in the official statement of the platform.
According to the information, the moderation process is based on proactive monitoring based on machine learning, along with user complaints. Currently, this activity is further strengthened with advanced moderation tools based on artificial intelligence.
According to the published statistics, a total of 44,085,169 groups and channels were blocked in 2025. Of these, 952,318 were related to child sexual abuse material (CSAM), and 236,573 were related to terrorist activities.
Telegram said that the platform blocks tens of thousands of groups and channels every day, and also removes millions of pieces of content that violates the rules of use — such as incitement to violence, distribution of child abuse material, and the sale and purchase of illegal goods.
