The Big Five invested in 149 startups in 2024

Tech giants invested $1 million or more in 149 startups in 2024. According to Crunchbase News, the Big Five (Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Amazon, and Alphabet) saw their lowest investment activity in five years in 2024. Apple was not involved in any of the deals.
According to analysts, last year, investors invested more in companies operating in the field of artificial intelligence. The largest investment deal of 2024 was the $ 6.6 billion round of OpenAI. The company attracted this amount mainly from giants such as Microsoft and Nvidia.

In second place is Waymo, a subsidiary of Alphabet (Google) (develops driverless taxis). Waymo received $ 5.6 billion in investment from the parent company. The top three are closed by a startup called Anthropic. The company attracted $ 4 billion in investment from Amazon. It should be noted that Anthropic is also the creator of an artificial intelligence model called Claude, whose functionality is similar to ChatGPT.

Leaders among investors
Alphabet made the most deals among investors. The company participated in 87 investment rounds. Second place is taken by Microsoft (34), and third place is taken by Nvidia (27).
