The English Premier League and tech giant Microsoft have announced a five-year strategic partnership aimed at expanding the use of artificial intelligence in sports technology. As part of the agreement, Microsoft’s AI tool, Copilot, will be integrated into the Premier League’s digital platforms.
Through this collaboration, fans will gain fast and accurate access to statistics about clubs, players, and matches. Copilot will analyze and present insights from a data pool of over 30 seasons, 300,000 articles, and 9,000 videos.
The Premier League’s core digital infrastructure will also migrate to the Microsoft Azure cloud platform. This transition will enable more efficient implementation of AI and unify the league’s digital platforms under a single system.
It is worth noting that other major sports organizations are also showing strong interest in AI. For example, Spain’s LaLiga uses AI for match analysis and media production. This trend reflects the broader efforts by sports organizations to manage vast data resources more effectively and engage fans in innovative ways.
