TikTok and Billboard have released a list that identifies the 50 most played songs. This new "TikTok Billboard Top 50" chart will rank the most popular songs each week based on views, engagements and number of songs used in the video. Currently, the song "SkeeYee" by Sexy Red is on the first place on the list, the song "Paint The Town Red" by Doja Cat is on the second place, and the song "August" by Taylor Swift is on the third place.
This initiative is seen as an indication of TikTok's impact on the music industry. TikTok plays an important role in increasing the popularity of artists, especially Lil Nas X and Tai Verdes. Ole Obermann, head of TikTok Music Business Development, said that this list reflects what songs are trending on TikTok.
To view TikTok's Top 50 Chart, users can either log into the TikTok app or use the Billboard website. The list will be updated every Thursday morning. TikTok and Billboard will only track songs that are trending in the US.
