Trump delays TikTok ban for the third time

Donald Trump has announced that he is ready to delay the implementation of the TikTok ban in the United States once again. He stated that if an agreement on the management of TikTok's U.S. segment is not reached by June 19, he will propose extending the enforcement of the ban for the third time.

In the U.S., there is a requirement for TikTok's management to be transferred from the Chinese company ByteDance to American investors. The aim of this agreement is to have U.S. user data processed through Oracle and for the TikTok platform to fall under the jurisdiction of a domestic consortium. However, negotiations with ByteDance, the owner of TikTok, have yet to yield positive results.

Trump emphasized that he is interested in reaching this deal and does not intend to use this issue aggressively in trade negotiations with China. He also expressed his desire to protect TikTok, noting the support the platform has garnered among young people. Against the backdrop of escalating U.S.-China relations, TikTok continues to be a focal point both as a national security concern and a potential tool for economic pressure.
