One of the world’s leading technology companies, Google, has created a new position to achieve its strategic goals in the field of artificial intelligence. Turkish engineer Koray Kavukçuoğlu, who currently serves as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Google DeepMind, has been appointed to this new role. Kavukçuoğlu will continue to serve as DeepMind’s CTO while also taking on the role of Google’s Chief AI Architect.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced Kavukçuoğlu’s new appointment in an internal company memo. Pichai emphasized that Kavukçuoğlu will ensure the faster and more efficient integration of AI models into Google’s products. He also noted that Kavukçuoğlu’s experience in product development will make a significant contribution to the company.
Koray Kavukçuoğlu graduated from Middle East Technical University (METU) in 1999 with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. After completing his master’s degree at the same university, he pursued graduate studies in computer engineering at New York University (NYU), earning both a master’s and a doctoral degree. Since 2012, he has worked as a researcher at Google DeepMind, achieving significant milestones. He will now serve both as DeepMind’s CTO and Google’s Chief AI Architect.
This appointment aims to further strengthen Google’s leadership in artificial intelligence and to integrate this technology more effectively into its products. Kavukçuoğlu’s expertise and leadership skills will play a key role in helping the company reach its strategic objectives in this field.
