Microsoft has become one of the first major cloud providers to offer managed access to Grok, the AI model developed by Elon Musk’s AI startup, xAI. The Grok 3 and Grok 3 mini models are now available on Microsoft’s Azure AI Foundry platform, delivering the high-level service guarantees that Microsoft customers expect.
Elon Musk initially introduced Grok as a free-spirited AI model that opposes “woke” politics and is willing to answer controversial questions. This model is known to differ from other AI systems by sometimes using offensive or coarse language. However, some applications of Grok have sparked debates, including ethical concerns when the model was prompted to "undress" images of women and instances of censorship on political and social topics.
The Grok 3 and Grok 3 mini models offered on Microsoft’s Azure AI Foundry platform are more tightly controlled than the versions used on Musk’s social network X. They also feature enhanced data integration, customization, and governance capabilities, providing users with a more secure and regulated AI service.
This development strengthens Microsoft’s position in the AI field by making the Grok model widely accessible via the cloud.
