Yandex, together with the Moscow Department of Health, has launched a pilot project on the use of robot couriers in medical institutions. Within the framework of the project, autonomous rovers are already operating in several hospitals in the capital.
The robots move between hospital buildings, transporting medicines, medical consumables and biomaterials for laboratory analysis. They work both on scheduled flights (for example, delivering blood samples to the laboratory several times a day) and on urgent orders.
Thermal containers are used for cargo requiring a special temperature regime, and the cargo compartment of the robots is regularly disinfected. The project was implemented without changing the existing infrastructure - the robots move along ready-made roads and passages.
The main goal of the initiative is to automate logistics processes so that doctors and medical staff can devote more time to patients.
