OpenAI has introduced a new health section on its ChatGPT platform called ChatGPT Health. This section will allow users to discuss their health-related questions with a neural network.
According to the company's statistics, more than 230 million people ask ChatGPT health-related questions every week. The new section will take into account user data and integrate with services such as Apple Health, Function and MyFitnessPal. Thanks to this, ChatGPT will be able to help prepare for doctor's appointments, explain analyzes and indicators, as well as provide recommendations on nutrition.
OpenAI emphasizes that ChatGPT Health is not intended to replace medical care.
“This feature is not intended to diagnose or prescribe treatment. It helps to understand everyday health questions and track patterns that arise over time — not just during moments of illness — so that users are better prepared for important medical conversations,” OpenAI said.
Health data is stored in a separate environment, where privacy measures have been strengthened. For example, ChatGPT can use information from other chats to provide health advice, but information from the health section will never be used to respond to other chats.
The new feature was developed in collaboration with doctors. Over two years, OpenAI collected more than 600,000 feedback from more than 260 doctors to ensure that the system provides the most useful health advice possible.
ChatGPT Health is now available to some users. You can sign up for a waitlist to get early access to the feature.
