A QR code has been added to the new Russian banknotes

Modernized 1000 and 5000 ruble banknotes will be put into circulation in Russia on October 16, the press service of the Bank of Russia reported. The banknotes have retained their color palette - the turquoise color scheme remains for 1,000 rubles, and the red color remains for 5,000 rubles. At the same time, the banknotes already have a QR code that leads to the website of the Central Bank.
The press service of the Goshnak enterprise (which also produces security banknote paper and develops security technologies) says that proprietary technologies protected by 22 patents were used to create the updated banknotes.
Compared to the previous generation of banknotes, the updated versions have significantly redesigned the security complex, now include the most high-tech and reliable functions, and are now easy to verify and counterfeit without special equipment.
