Amazon opens access to Alexa Plus via web interface to all users

Amazon has expanded access to its artificial intelligence assistant Alexa Plus, making it available to all users through a web browser as part of an early access program. Users can sign up for Alexa.com and work directly from their computers with the new Alexa Plus interface. This interface complements the use on Echo devices.

Previously, Alexa Plus was only available on new Echo models and was gradually added to older devices through updates. The web interface makes it easier to perform tasks using a keyboard and mouse — for example, updating a to-do list or booking a table at a restaurant.

One of the main functions of Alexa Plus is to upload documents, letters and images from the site and automatically extract important information from them. Recipes are automatically converted into shopping lists, while vaccination records, vet bills and children's sports schedules are added to the user's calendar.

In addition, Amazon is demonstrating integration with "smart home" devices. It is possible to control lighting, door locks and doorbell cameras directly from the chat interface with Alexa. Features include meal planning and automatic shopping cart creation through Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods, taking into account dietary restrictions.
