AI startup Anthropic, known for developing the Claude chatbot, has entered preliminary talks to raise a new round of funding that could value the company at $150 billion, according to the Financial Times. This would mark a sharp increase from its $61.5 billion valuation in March 2025, when the company last raised funds.
Sources familiar with the matter told FT that Anthropic aims to raise at least $3 billion, with the potential to increase that amount to as much as $5 billion. Among the investors the company is reportedly in discussions with is MGX, an Abu Dhabi-based fund. Notably, Anthropic had previously refrained from direct funding from the Middle East, but this may be changing as the company expands its global ambitions.
In March 2025, Anthropic raised $3.5 billion from Lightspeed Venture Partners and other investors. The funding was used to accelerate the development of next-generation AI systems, expand internationally, and significantly boost computing infrastructure.
In May, Anthropic released its latest hybrid language models — Claude Sonnet 4 and Claude Opus 4, the latter of which was described as “the best coding model in the world.” The company also added voice capabilities to the Claude chatbot, broadening its accessibility and user experience.
Industry insiders report that Anthropic’s annual revenue is now estimated to be between $1 billion and $4 billion, fueled largely by subscription-based enterprise offerings. If successful, this new round of funding could further solidify Anthropic’s position as a top player in the AI race, competing with rivals such as OpenAI, Google DeepMind, and Meta.
