Anthropic is reportedly in talks with Samsung Electronics to produce a custom artificial intelligence (AI) chip, The Information reported, and Bloomberg reported.
According to sources, the project is currently in its early stages. The company has not yet made a final decision on the purposes for which the chip will be designed and what its technical characteristics will be.
Anthropic declined to comment on the matter. The company said only that its computing infrastructure is currently based on Amazon Trainium, Google TPU and Nvidia graphics processors. Samsung also did not comment on the negotiations.
Recall that in the spring of 2026, Reuters reported that Anthropic was considering developing its own AI chips due to a lack of computing power and growing demand for its Claude model.
Note that at the end of June, OpenAI also introduced its first custom inference (inference) AI chip, developed from scratch in partnership with Broadcom.
