The popular AI company, Anthropic, is nearing a $3.5 billion investment in its new funding round. This investment will raise the company's valuation to $61.5 billion. Initially, Anthropic planned to raise $2 billion, but due to increased investor interest, this figure has now risen to $3.5 billion.
The new funding round will include participation from Lightspeed Venture Partners, General Catalyst, Bessemer Venture Partners, and the Abu Dhabi-based investment firm MGX. If completed, this round will bring Anthropic's total raised investments to $18 billion.
The company has also introduced a new AI model, Claude 3.7 Sonnet, this week. According to WSJ, Anthropic's annual revenue is approaching $1.2 billion, but the company is still not profitable. It plans to use the new investment to develop more powerful and advanced AI technologies.
