On December 11, Apple released the stable version of iOS 17.2 and the beta version of iOS 17.3. The most important feature in the latest update of the operating system is aimed at preventing theft.
The new feature is called "Stolen Device Protection" and is automatically activated when the iPhone is controlled by outsiders. What does Stolen Device Protection do?
Forcefully activates Face ID or Touch ID when the theft mode is disabled, Apple Pay is used, an attempt is made to erase all data on the smartphone, and an Apple Card is created.
Disabling Locator for one hour delays Apple ID, Face ID, Touch ID, or password changes. If the smartphone is in a familiar place (at home, in the owner's office, etc.), the one-hour delay does not apply.
To enable Stolen Device Protection, you need to go to Settings > Face ID & passcode > Stolen device protection.
