Apple is working on a feature that would automatically lock an iPhone if it is stolen

Apple is developing a new security feature that will automatically lock an iPhone that has been forcibly taken from the user. This was reported by 9to5Mac.

Currently, iPhones have anti-theft features such as “Stolen Device Protection”. However, as the publication notes, if the device is taken by a thief while it is open, the existing security measures are almost useless.

The new system will try to detect when the device is suddenly taken from the user’s hands and will automatically lock the iPhone in such cases.

According to the information, the feature will use sensors such as an accelerometer. The system will also analyze the distance to the connected Apple Watch to more accurately assess the likelihood of theft.

In addition, it will take into account whether the iPhone is connected to a familiar Wi-Fi network and whether the device is in familiar places such as the user’s home or work.

It has not yet been announced when the feature will be introduced. A similar security feature is already available on Android devices.
