Apple is reportedly planning to change the way it names its operating systems. Under the new system, operating systems will be named by the year. For example, the update following the current iOS 18 will be called iOS 26 instead of iOS 19. This change aims to create clearer and more consistent branding across Apple products.
The same naming convention will apply to iPadOS 26, macOS 26, watchOS 26, tvOS 26, and visionOS 26. These changes are expected to be announced at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 9.
According to reports, this year’s WWDC will also introduce new user interfaces for the operating systems. Additionally, updates for AirPods, Siri, the Vision Pro headset, and several new AI features are expected to be unveiled.
This move is seen as part of Apple’s strategy to create a more unified and easily recognizable brand for its products.
