A strategic partnership agreement has been signed between “Azerbaijan Airlines” (AZAL) and “Viasat Inc.”, a global leader in satellite communications, to equip aircraft with high-speed internet.
The document was signed by AZAL President Samir Rzayev and Viasat’s President of Aviation Don Buchman during the “Dubai Airshow 2025,” one of the world’s largest aviation events.
As part of the partnership, 20 new aircraft joining AZAL’s fleet — including the Airbus A320 family and Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner — will be equipped with the advanced “Viasat Amara” satellite communication system.
The new system will provide passengers not only with high-speed Wi-Fi, but also access to a wireless onboard entertainment platform. Passengers will be able to enjoy a wide range of multimedia content using their personal mobile devices.
It should be noted that the system has already been installed on two Airbus A320neo aircraft introduced into operation by AZAL earlier this year.
