Google CEO: "No company is insured against AI bubble burst"

In an interview with the BBC, Sundar Pichai addressed a serious concern troubling the tech world. He stated that if the current "AI bubble"—characterized by excessively inflated investments—were to burst, no company, including Google, would be immune to its consequences.

Pichai described the present period as an "extraordinary phase of technological development," while admitting that there are certain irrationalities in investor behavior. He compared the current situation to the late 1990s dot-com crash, noting that the market is currently dominated by excessive enthusiasm detached from reality.

The interview also covered the company’s future plans. Google confirmed a £5 billion investment to strengthen AI infrastructure in the UK. However, Pichai also pointed out a drawback: AI systems require enormous amounts of energy, which may delay the company’s efforts to achieve its "net-zero" carbon emissions goals.
