In Russia, people who insult in voice messages can be held administratively liable. In a case heard in a Moscow court, offensive audio messages sent via Telegram were considered grounds for a fine.

RIA Novosti reported this, citing court documents. It is reported that a woman sent several voice messages to another person, and these messages contained offensive expressions. The person who received the messages appealed to the prosecutor's office, and the case was investigated under the article "Insult" of the Code of Administrative Offenses.

An official listening act of the audio recording was presented as evidence. After the accused pleaded guilty and expressed remorse, the court issued a decision to fine him in the amount of 3 thousand rubles.

Lawyers say that such liability applies not only to personal correspondence, but also to chat rooms and other group messages. Insults, slander, threats and calls for hatred in digital communication channels can give rise to administrative or criminal liability.

Experts note that screenshots of correspondence alone are usually not enough. It is recommended that electronic evidence be notarized and then submitted to law enforcement agencies.
