CATL has introduced a new generation of Tectrans II batteries for light commercial electric vehicles. The new battery is designed for delivery vans, trucks and other commercial electric vehicles.
According to the company, the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in just 6 minutes and 48 seconds, and fully charged in less than 9 minutes. CATL says this is already approaching the refueling time of internal combustion engine vehicles.
The service life of the new battery is estimated at 10 years or 1 million kilometers. The company explains this by approximately halving the internal resistance in the battery cells and optimizing the graphite anode.
Tectrans II also performs well in cold climates. According to CATL, even at temperatures of -20°C, the charging time increases by only about 2.5 minutes.
The company is also expanding its network of ultra-fast charging and battery swapping stations for commercial electric vehicles. To this end, CATL has begun a collaboration with logistics company J&T Express to develop charging infrastructure along China's main transportation routes.
